School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) assists the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the health education program.  The council will address the continued implementation of a coordinated health program including health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling, healthy school environment, staff health promotion and family/community involvement.  SHAC meets four times during the school year.

 

Brady ISD SHAC Vision and Mission

Vision:  Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Successful Life

Mission:  The School Health Advisory Council of Brady ISD will support and encourage the community within the schools to enhance the health and wellness of all individual so they can be productive students and staff members.

    • Helping all BISD schools meet community involvement mandates and community expectations,
    • Providing a way for community members to work together with school personnel to accomplish district goals,
    • Utilizing community resources and assets,
    • Influencing people within a community to be a credible, collective voice for healthy children and youth,
    • Providing a forum for sharing youth health information, resources, perspectives and a range of advice,
    • Fostering member’s personal satisfaction and understanding of their role in strengthening their community by supporting coordinated school health, and
    • Fostering cooperation by building trust and consensus among grassroots organizations, community segments, and diverse citizens.
